Well established company seeks a Helpdesk / Support Engineer for immediate hire. Candidate must have 2+ years experience working in a full time capacity in technology.
Overview: We are a small but growing IT support firm in Westchester. We set up, maintain and manage networks for businesses with between 5 and 100 PCs, and with 1 to 20 servers. We provide on-site and remote end-user support as well as 24-hour monitoring of systems and emergency service.
Job Description: We are seeking a Desktop Support Specialist to provide both remote and desktop level support for our clients. Duties will include troubleshooting and resolving both hardware and software issues, and installing new software and hardware. Candidate will have potential for on-site work after gaining additional experience.
Hours: The position is full-time during regular business hours. Availability for off-hours on-call service in rotation with other technicians may be required, as well as occasional off-hours or weekend project work.
Location: Remote work will be done from our office in Millwood,NY (Westchester County).
Desktop Support duties:
• Provide telephone/remote technical support to end users
• Perform remote software installs and updates
• Maintain accurate client network documentation
• Set up and configure PCs, printers, peripherals and networking equipment
• Provide on-site troubleshooting, training and tech support at the desktop level
• Assist senior technicians with network deployment projects
• Write quotes and proposals for hardware and software systems we sell
Experience:
• Some experience with networking or server troubleshooting,
• Experience with routers basic understanding of Lan/Wan Technologies in a corporate environment.
• Interface with the customers and vendors using communication skills.
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP and IP routing protocols.
• Good understanding of Windows 2003/2008, Vista, XP, Windows 7
• Good understanding of Active directory.
• Good understanding of backups and media management
Pluses:
• Prior experience working in mission-critical environment is a plus
• A+, Network+, MCP preferred but not required
• Familiar with Ubuntu Linux
• Programming background
• Experience with Joomla
• Experience in web design/development
• Familiar with Symantec BackupExec
• Familiar with Sonicwall Standard and Enhanced
Requirements:
• BA/BS or AAS Degree required or equivalent related work experience
• Must have vehicle for travel to clients.
